Cifra 2017 is a red wine from the estate of Duemani, whose owners are Luca d’Atoma, giant of oenology and his wife Elena. It is an extraordinary wine, dense, fine and balanced. A freshness and superb length coats the mouth. Its color is red with purplish reflections with good intensity. Starting with aromas of blue flowers, red berry and dark cooking spices, the aromas lead the nose on the brightly red.
On the palate, the bright, savory palate doles out wild cherry, cassis, clove and a dash of white pepper alongside silky tannins and fresh acidity. It will match perfectly with Italian dishes such as a tomato, basil and cheese Bruschetta or as an aperitif with a plate of cold cuts and Parmesan cheese
As a easygoing everyday glass, the wine comes from a Cabernet Franc grape which is raised in concrete vats. After years of consulting for top estates in Italy, the winemaker Luca d’Attoma realized his goal of making his own wine. Embrace the crunchy red berries smell with notes of violet and herbs.
Azienda Vitivinicola Duemani is an Italian wine producer located in Riparbella, approximately 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Pisa on the Tuscan coastline. The estate was founded in this coastal area to cultivate Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot grapes.
Duemani makes a range of Costa Toscana IGT wines including several varietal red and rosé wines from Cabernet Franc and Syrah, as well as a Cabernet Franc – Merlot red blend. These wines are fermented and macerated in a range of different vessels, from temperature-controlled cement vats to oak barriques. After vinification, the wines are aged in new French oak or cement vats (depending on the wine). Duemani’s wines are produced without fining or filtration.
The idea behind establishing the winery on the Coast of Tuscany was to produce wines from their favorite grapes: Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot. Here both climate and soil are ideal for these grape varieties, which grow to reach the perfect balance, full maturation and expression of fruit and terroir. The winery said that they decided from the beginning to cultivate the land following biodynamic agriculture, in order to respect and reserve this immaculate environment, where vineyards are surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs, miles from any modern development, on a pure and lively surface.
The winery’s website sates:
“The viticulture is accurate and done primarily by manual labor; our high-density vineyards are managed with small tractors for working the soil and the distribution of biodynamic preparations which increase the energy of the soil and plants. In this way, we have grapes that give wines full of aromas, flavors and originality. Our primary and binding determination is to produce wines that are fine, clean, direct and delicious with unique and recognizable character. Unforgettable wines that have to be appreciated with happiness.”
