    Description

A burst of raspberry and blueberry highlights this lean, sinewy version. Intense, with spice and mineral elements emerging as this plays out on the long aftertaste. Best from 2019 through 2029. WS/90

Fresh and packed with red fruits, this wine comes from the Faiveley domaine. With raspberry flavors and plenty of acidity, the wine is forward and going to develop quickly. Drink from 2018. WE/89

Medium red. Aromas of red berries, cherry, licorice and spices accented by pungent peppery herbs. Lovely intensity and perfume to the red berry, menthol and floral flavors. Wonderfully pliant and creamy for young Mercurey, but with the mineral energy and definition and the lightly peppery aspect of the vintage. Crunchy red berry and red cherry fruit flavors offer immediate appeal. An excellent Mercurey wine with fine-grained tannins, a faintly herbal quality and subtle length–and showing very well today. (Incidentally, I retasted the Mercurey Clos du Roi 1er Cru, which I rated 89 points last year shortly after it was bottled and again next to the Clos des Myglands this fall. It’s a more savory, less sweet style and a bit more bound-up but boasts noteworthy chewy depth and savory minerality. I’d enjoy the Clos des Myglands first and give the more backward Clos du Roi a couple more years to absorb its dusty tannins.) AG/89

Monopole. Mid cherry. Smells sweet fruited and gentle. Really lovely soft fruit and tannins, already easily drinkable, with good fruit depth – a little darker fruit than the Framboisière and well structured even though it is so rounded. Jancis Robinson
