Pinot Grigio is the Italian name for Pinot Gris, a white mutation of the Pinot family sharing genetic fingerprint with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and several other varieties. The term Pinot Grigio has become strongly associated with light bodied wines produced in great quantities, particularly in northern Italy. The wines are commonly described as dry white wines with relatively high acidity.
This fine wine, created only in the years of exceptional harvests, the wine has a deep, red color with purple shades. It opens up with an elegant floral bouquet followed by a crisp, clean, citrus intensive palate. On the nose, very ripe, complex, with an intense aroma of spices and ripe fruit along with notes of vanilla, coconut and chocolate resulting from ripening in the barrel. On the palate, the wine presents a very good structure with a gentle start.
When it comes to finish, it offers a long finale thanks to velvet tannins. The yellow orchard fruit flavors are rich, bold and intense throughout while sweet floral and honeyed notes add texture on the finish.
It serves well as a crisp start to your dinner with hors d’oeuvres. It is also a great partner for shellfish, seafood, pasta with tomato or cream sauce, and risotto.
